Garden Get Togethers!

We will be having a garden meeting/get together on Sunday, July 12th and Sunday, August 9th at 4pm. We will have a BBQ available so bring food as well. There will be face painting for the kids and a craft. Hope to see you there!

United Way Day of Caring - done!

Hi folks,

The Day of Caring went exceptionally well today. I welcomed a dozen volunteers from local firms Intercall, Moxies, and Lyman & Potts at 9:30am at the garden. Thirty 6-inch by 6-inch by 12-foot timbers had been delivered the day before by Glen Supply, and it took us about an hour to frame the 5 new beds. The delivery of 10 cubic-yards of topsoil took place at 10am, and by 11:30am the entire job was done! Amazing! We had a steady stream of 6 wheelbarrows going at one point.

Fundraising event

PLANT SALE

Saturday May 30th, 2009
9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

at 'the garden'
mostly perennials

Proceeds will go toward purchasing plants for the Martha's Table plot
and/or to the local food distribution network

Volunteers needed

Volunteers needed to build new beds on Friday, June 5^th

Good news! The United Way will be funding a further expansion of the garden, which has been APPROVED by the Utility. We will be part of their ‘Day of Caring’, which will take place on June 5^th. They will supply materials and some volunteers to construct new beds. What an exciting time! Joey needs volunteers to help with the construction. In addition to the satisfaction that comes with building new beds, you’ll also get a free United Way T-shirt! Folks, it just doesn’t get any better than that!!! The expansion plan may be found here:

Spring Meeting

The sun is out and it is time to garden! How about getting together on Sunday, May 3rd at 4pm? (Sunday, May 10th was also considered but that is Mother's Day weekend). We will have a BBQ available so bring food as well. We can use the initial part of the gathering to clean up our plots and the yard, paint signs for our plot and perhaps add compost to the plots. There is free compost available at Joyceville Pen and a few of us may go up the day before to bring some to the garden. Hope to see you there. Rupa

Sunnyside Diggers Work Bee

Saturday April 25th at 1pm at the garden
We will be digging-out beds 2 and 7 to control the tree root encroachment. Bring a shovel and your elbow grease. Should be a beautiful day in the garden!
